9/25 & 9/26 GOOD MORNING! After you have copied the Objective and Homework in your agenda, please get out a piece of paper and label and date it: Quote Response #7 - 9/25 or 9/26. Silently read the quote to yourself. Then, interpret the quote in a 1 chunk paragraph response. You will have 6 minutes for this writing activity. “There is only one real fault, and that is to convince oneself that second best is anything other than second best.” Doris Lessing_British Writer Life Skill: Effort – to try one’s best I will be checking & stamping your possessives homework while you complete the quote response.

9/25 & 9/26 Now, get out a highlighter and prepare to review the Possessives note sheet and the Nouns Possessives homework.

9/25 & 9/26 - Homework Study for the Rhetorical Device Vocabulary quiz by typing each word and its definition 5 times.

9/27 & 9/28 GOOD MORNING! After you have copied the Objective and Homework in your agenda, please keep it handy as we record important information about college testing, admissions, & financial aide. Then, you will have about 12 to 15 minutes to review your words. Now, clear your desks in preparation for the Rhetorical Device Vocabulary Quiz. You will need a pencil. You will need a sheet of paper to use as a cover sheet during the test and a doodle sheet after the test. I will be collecting both. You will have 20 minutes to complete this quiz. When you have finished, please bring me your test and cover sheet. Please make sure each has your name on it.

You will need the Depth of Knowledge (DOK) Information for English handout. We will discuss the levels of thinking expected on high stakes tests such as the ACT and the SAT. We will use this information when we analyze our performance on the “Yellowstone Autumn” assignment for which the following class averages represent. 1st Period – 1.36 – 34% 4th Period 2.3 – 58% 7th Period 1.36 – 34% 2nd Period – 2.45 – 62% 5th Period 1.85 – 47% 3rd Period – 2.5 – 63% 6th Period 1.25 – 32% Overall class average = 48% / Honors = 60% / E12 = 42%
