What happens in detention??? Hopefully you’ll never find out…
Entering the class Students will enter the classroom and quietly sit it their assigned chair, keep their hands, feet, and objects to themselves until the bell ring and the Science Starter Activity begins. There is a “No Talking” policy during the daily 5 minute Science Starter Activity. Students will sharpen any pencils before the end of the Science Starter activity. During the Science Starter, students will write down the daily objective in their STUDENT AGENDA (daily grade once a week). Students will have 5 minutes to complete the Daily Science Starter activity listed on the science starter board in the back of their science notebooks.
If I’m tardy? The student will be considered Tardy if they are out of their designated seat when the bell rings. If Tardy, students will quietly sign-in the Tardy Clipboard and prepare for class without any interruptions. If you have a pass from a teacher then you are not tardy. School Tardy Penalties: 5 Tardies- Meeting with Assistant Principal and Parent Contacted 10 Tardies- ½ Day Saturday Detention 15- Full Day Saturday Detention 20- Full Day Saturday Detention and 1 Day ISS 25- Referral MY Tardy Penalties: 1 Tardy- Warning 2 Tardies- LAST WARNING 3- D-HALL and call home to parent and email principals 4- D-HALL and call home to parent and email principals 5- Referral
Leaving the class Students will gather their belongings 1 minute before the end of class. Before any student can leave the classroom, it must be as clean as it was when the class started. Students will remain seated until the teacher dismisses the class. CLASS WILL NOT BE DISMISSED IF THERE IS ANY TALKING. CLASS MUST BE SILENT BEFORE DISMISSAL! Students will WALK through the classroom door.
If I’m absent? If Absent, when the student returns to class, they should check the Missed Work crate for any missed assignments. If a lab activity, quiz, notebook entry, or test was missed, then the student is responsible for making it up before or after school.
Late work? Is there homework? SOMETIMES-IT WILL BE DUE THE NEXT DUES IN MOST CIRCUMSTANCES. Late work? You can turn in an assignment up to the bell on the day that it is due. After that it is 10 points a day until it is turned in.
Grading policy Students will receive a Progress Report each 3 weeks & a Report Card each 6 weeks. Student Grades can be accessed via the internet at www.roundrockisd.org. These will be updated at least once per week. Grade Averages will be calculated as follows: Major Grades – 60% --Tests, Projects, Science Notebooks Minor Grades – 40% --Classwork, Homework, Quizzes, Labs There is a Zero Tolerance for cheating. The student will receive a zero for the assignment and I will contact their parents/guardians and write a referral.

DON’T LOSE YOUR PASSES!!!! Restroom passes You get new passes from Mrs. Parra every six weeks. 3 passes a six weeks Passes count for any reason you need to leave the classroom If you lose them, then you cannot leave class. DON’T LOSE YOUR PASSES!!!!
General guidelines Students will use Accountable Talk and acceptable manners. Cursing or Teasing will not be tolerated. Lab Equipment & Supplies should only be touched with the teacher’s permission. Students are expected to treat classroom with Respect. Students are expected to treat classroom guests with Respect.
