Reflection week beginning 20th February 2017 How to be responsible… Reflection week beginning 20th February 2017

A busy time ahead… This term is a very busy time in the school year, with Y9 choosing their subjects for GCSE, Y11 applying for sixth form and all exam groups revising hard for the summer. Responsibility is going to be key to our success. How do we learn how to be responsible so that we can do and be our best?

Responsibility A pep talk from an interesting source… Watch it, and then think – how am I going to take responsibility this year, and be responsible for what I can achieve? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-gQLqv9f4o

If it is to be, it is up to me! Be accountable. If your friends are annoying, your teacher unreasonable, your parents unbearable, you are always responsible for how you respond. Your behaviour is under your control. Take responsibility for it.

If it is to be, it is up to me! Stop blaming. When you stop pointing the finger, you have control over yourself. Just because the other person is acting a fool, don’t be one yourself.

If it is to be, it is up to me! Acknowledge or admit what happened. When you admit, “Yes, I forgot to bring in my homework,” you stop the need to make up silly excuses. “I messed up” is the responsible three-word sentence, and when followed with “How can I make it up to you?” it makes people willing to forgive. Your integrity earns respect

If it is to be, it is up to me! See yourself clearly. Taking responsibility means recognising both your weaknesses and strengths. It means recognising all that is great about you. Be kind to yourself. A responsible person does not dismiss their own achievements. They know their good and positive qualities.. But…A responsible person also continues to recognise and to try to work on their weaknesses.

Some sound advice…To reflect on
