To represent the University in sportsmanship and competitiveness by participating in collegiate tournaments on and off campus.

Disc Golf Basics Played like traditional ball golf The goal is to complete the course in as few throws as possible. Players drive, chip, and putt from a tee towards a metal target. Three types of discs are used for varying shot types: drivers, mid-ranges, and putters. Affordability and simplicity have made it one of Americas fastest growing sports (dga.com).

Academic Year Overview: First year as an affiliated sport club – given $ Increased club membership (4 last year, 2 graduated) Promoted at local courses, online, and showcases Flyer distribution Represented UNCC in five collegiate competitions. Community Outreach Assisted in the development of a new concrete teepad at Nevin Community Park.

Sustainability What makes the club sustainable? Growth of the sport The Professioal Disc Golf Association (PDGA) reports a 15%/year growth in tournament competitors. Appeal to all people Students love it as well as the community members, young and old. Generally speaking you get a different crowd playing than your normal athletic students that play football, basketball, softball which is great. But you get your share of families, traditional athletic people, women, and others playing… (1) – Garry Greenlee (Associate Director of Recreation Services at Iowa State University) Cost Efficiency Most courses are free and only an $8 disc is needed! (1) University of Richmond Disc Golf Proposal.

Sustainability Collegiate growth The National Championships has grown from 6 teams in 2006 to over 60 in 2013.¹ Colleges from all over the country: Oregon, California, Colorado, etc. Growing number of colleges with campus courses (1) Allthingsdiscgolf.com/ncdgc-2013-national-collegiate-disc-golf-championship-preview/
