Following the SMART Principles Bucket List Following the SMART Principles

SMART A method of creating achievable and personal goals.

S Make specific or detailed goals for your life. Instead of saying you want to be healthy, aim to eat vegetables and fruits every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at lunch, for example.

M Ensure there is a way to check whether or not you’ve met your goal. Measurable Ensure there is a way to check whether or not you’ve met your goal. If you want to lose weight, maybe set a specific number as your goal. If you want to do better in school, aim for a percentage.

A Attainable Choose goals that are within your capability, and not too easy or too hard. If goals are too simple or too challenging, you may lose interest or become discouraged when the goal isn’t reached in your timeline.

R Goals need to matter specifically to you. Relevant to You Goals need to matter specifically to you. Climbing Mt. Everest or running a 7 min/mile might mean a lot to other, but if it isn’t worthwhile or significant to you, it is a wasted opportunity to improve yourself.

T Time-Bound Goals are more likely to be achieved when there is a specific “success date”. Be realistic about how long certain goals or actions will take. Set baby steps or small success-markers as you work towards the ultimate goal.

Bucket List 5 – this month 5 – this year 5 – in 5 years 25 Goals Total Remaining 10 goals can be in any bracket/time span you want
