Progress to date 25 Projects to: Scope common repositories infrastructure Community needs Cultural and practical issues Specifications, software and tools Define components Guidelines and exemplars Supporting activities: Digital Preservation and asset management Publishers, copyright (Zwolle), Scholarly communications

Early outcomes 25 projects just starting Cladia, Spectra, Sherpa+, Sherpa-DP Several e-prints-based repositories (but RCUK Issue) Mostly research and data, some e-learning (inc e-Bank) Publishers coming on board? Core standards developed, compulsory for projects Joined up with digital preservation programme, DCC Retention policies, engaging archivists

Next steps April 2006 – July 2008 £13 million for: Transition Support Service Search Infrastructure and portals Interim repository Matched funding programme Information strategies Shared services Tools and innovation
