16  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19  and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. 20  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21  to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. to comprehend - katalambanō - "to lay hold of;" then, 17a so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith --- 18  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth to comprehend - katalambanō - "to lay hold of;" then, "to lay hold of so as to possess as one's own, to appropriate.“ see John 1:5 (negative sense), Phil 3:12-13 with all (or together with) the saints "with all saints" indicates that this spiritual capacity is not limited to a few select saints, but is the common property of all those saints (Wuest)

what is the breadth and length and height and depth 17a so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith --- 18  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth what is the breadth and length and height and depth Graphic, indeed, is the language employed here which assigns to this particular love the dimensions of space -- "breadth," "length," "depth," and "height” -- but these are dimensions which are infinite. which surpasses knowledge 19  and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God which surpasses knowledge surpasses – hyperballō - "to throw over or beyond" (hyper, "over," ballō, "to throw"), is translated "exceeding" elsewhere see 2 Cor. 9:14; Eph. 1:19; Eph. 2:7 What other things about God surpasses? see Phil 4:7 “that” you may be filled up to all the fullness of God you may be filled up - plēroō -"to make full, to fill to the full;" in the passive voice in v:19, "to be filled, made full;” (verb form)

20  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, The benediction (v:20-21) represents the high point in the book of Ephesians. Much is yet to come, but its theme is the outworking of our high position in Christ. We are in Christ—we can ascend no higher. 20  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, These are things that God is able to do! to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, lit: to do beyond all things superabundantly (above) (the things) which we ask or think 1st to do “beyond all things” - huper panta - thus, "in a measure exceeding all things, beyond all things." see 2 Cor 9:8

20  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 2nd (to do) superabundantly – huperekperissou - an adverb meaning quite beyond all measure, indeed, the highest form of comparison imaginable. We could translate “infinitely more.” see I Thess 3:10 & 5:13 that we ask or think ask - aiteō - to ask that something be given (middle voice) think – noeō - to consider or understand What He purposed is none other than all that has been revealed in the early portion of this Epistle. Every spiritual blessing in Christ is in view, and these the Apostle has by the Spirit set forth in Chapters one to three. Chafer

Eph 3:7 of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God's grace which was given to me according to the working of His power.
