Solids, Liquids & Gasses Types of Matter Solids, Liquids & Gasses

What is matter? Matter is anything that has mass or volume, and takes up space in the world

Types of Matter There are 3 types of matter: Solids Liquids Gasses

Solids Solids are a type of matter in which the particles are packed close together, which makes the object have a definite shape. Examples: a brick, a penny, a piece of wood, a chunk of aluminum metal

Liquids Liquids have particles that are more spaced out, so the consistency of this type of matter is very free flowing, with no definite shape. Examples: Water, soda, juice.

Gasses Gas particles are the most spread out of all the types of matter. A gas a substance that is like air and has no fixed shape Examples: Water vapor, condensation, smoke, clouds.
