TITLE “Role of the Liaison Officers in the marketing of PMAWCA within the Port Communities and strengthening of corporation between port members”
Public Relations The Liaison Officers (LO’s) serve as the interface/focal points between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Management and the PMAWCA Secretariat. Gather and share (translate where necessary) all information between NPA and PMAWCA. Also, to other relevant Agencies, the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the Federal Government and the stakeholders.
Advert/Publicity: Disseminate and Monitor through all communication tools all the information gathered. Special attention is always given by NPA Management on all PMAWCA programmes. Special Standing Committee created by Management. Sensitization programmes on PMAWCA activities. PMAWCA Women Network sensitization in all the Port locations (6), Corporate Headquarters and Abuja Liaison office. The funfair/ awareness created within the communities. Played key role: Send Off for the former Secretary General, Mr Michael Luguje.
IAPH, Abuja 2018 The Managing Director Nigerian Ports Authority and the current Vice-President of the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) African region, Hadiza Bala Usman, organized an IAPH International Conference from the 17th – 19th September 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria. Theme: “African Ports and Hinterland Connectivity” First ever, to be held in Africa. It was well attended and a huge success. Twelve (12)PMAWCA port members and many other African, Asian and European Ports and other international institutions attended.
Protocol Provide adequate protocol and logistics services for hitch free and successful hosting of PMAWCA meetings. (Before, during & after). Delegates’: visa, tickets, hotel accommodation, airport passage/reception, transportation (shuttle), security, communication (interpreters) and other logistics.
Event Management Hosting of meetings/coferences: Venue (hotel/hospitality), Print/distribute the invitation cards, follow up on invited dignitaries, Program of events, Interpreters, MC/Anchor person, public address system, ushers etc. All speeches/presentations are ready. Production of conference bags/materials, souvenirs/gifts, banners, name/table tags etc. Secretariat services.
Contd. Entertainment (cultural display), concerts, site visit(s) and other social events (gala night). Exhibitions: Participating exhibitors to showcase their services, products and potentials.
Media Relations Media Coverage: Advert/Publicity. Pre, Present and Post Meeting/Conference (Print, electronic & the new media (social media). Invite media practitioners (Print, electronic & the new media (social media). Photographs and video coverage. Provide information updates on NPA website. Wide coverage and reportage of PMAWCA activities in NPA in-house quarterly bi-lingual Magazine, “Nigerian PortsToday” and online monthly Newsletter, “NPA News”.
Conclusion The Liaison Officers in the Nigerian Ports Authority play very important roles in the marketing of PMAWCA within the Nigerian Port Communities and strengthening of corporation between port members. Thank You.
