Example of integration of lithologic data from detailed well cuttings analyses with wireline log and seismic datasets to generate a high resolution sequence stratigraphic framework for the subsurface of eastern North Carolina, US Atlantic passive margin. This holistic approach has generated the first detailed lithologic and stratigraphic framework for this portion of the basin, which will provide valuable information for possible future hydrocarbon exploration or CO2 sequestration/injection ventures within the basin, in addition to providing a valuable dataset from the Atlantic shelf to better understand depositional and diagenetic processes in the early Atlantic Ocean. This data should complement existing results from DSDP/ODP studies from coeval strata on the deep Atlantic seafloor.
