Building a Strategic Plan Guiding the Future of Litchfield Elementary District Jodi Gunning, Superintendent January 15, 2019

What is a Strategic Plan? A strategic plan defines the vision for success in the next 3-5 years A strategic plan will explain how to achieve excellence A strategic plan requires input from stakeholder groups to be inclusive of all members of our community

How will we build it? The Design Process Environmental Scan Focus Groups Stakeholder surveys Gather & Analyze Define the focus areas with goals Confirm/revise mission and beliefs Select strategies for success Aim Forward Stakeholder engagement Review and revision Board approval Finalize the Plan www.studergroup.com

Who will be involved in building it Who will be involved in building it? All stakeholders have an opportunity to participate and give input Initial Visioning: Governing Board and Leaders (held 1/8/19) Discussed process for building the strategic plan and participated in facilitated discussion about success Focus Groups: Groups of important stakeholders Students, Parents, Employees, Community Members will participate in facilitated discussions to provide input Stakeholder Surveys for All: Perception and Draft Plan Surveys Students, Parents, Employees, Community will be offered the opportunities to offer perceptions and feedback on draft ideas Steering Committee: A representative work group This group will analyze all input and create a draft plan for review by all stakeholders and a final plan for board approval Understand the role of the Steering Committee Be able to answer these questions: -What happens next? -How will we make certain all stakeholders are included? -When will the process be finished?

Inclusive process focused on capturing all voices This Steering Committee will gather input and develop a plan, which will be shared for feedback before being presented to the school board for approval The strategic plan process will include stakeholder input from: Governing Board Parents Students Community Members Employees

Strategic Planning Timeline Dates Activity January 8th Board and Leaders Visioning Session January 15th Strategic Plan Overview Presentation to Board and Community January 21st- Feb. 1st Baseline Stakeholder Surveys (Employee Engagement, Parent Satisfaction, Student Engagement) January 23rd-24th Focus Groups: Employees, Parents, Students, Community Members February 11th-12th Steering Committee Session to analyze data from focus groups & draft ideas, Progress Update to the Board February 14th-21st Strategic Plan Survey on draft ideas, mission, beliefs (Employees, Parents, Community Members) February 25th-26th Steering Committee Meeting to analyze stakeholder survey results and organize areas of focus into pillars/goals, review mission/beliefs March 21st-22nd Steering Committee Meeting to analyze data from strategic plan survey and build draft strategic plan March 26th-31st Employee Forums & Town Hall Meetings (present draft to stakeholders for review and feedback) April 4th-5th Steering Committee Meeting to review feedback from draft presentations, revise strategic plan and prepare for presentation to the board (optional if needed) April 9th Presentation of Strategic Plan to Governing Board for approval May 14th Backup date for presentation to the board (optional if needed) Strategic Planning Timeline
