Upcoming tests & assignments Classroom News September 10-14 Mark your calendar * Mrs. Marston’s Second Grade ~kristy.marston@dcsms.org A peek at the week + Math: *OA=Operations & Algebraic Thinking *NBT=Numbers & Operations in Base 10 *G=Geometry  2.NBT.3 Read and write numbers to 500 using base-ten numerals, number and expanded form. 2.NBT.4 Compare two three digit numbers within 500 based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digit, using >,<, or = symbols to record the results. Grammar: Adverbs Writing: W2.3Write narratives in which they recount a well elaborated even or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, used temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure. W2.5 With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing. L2.2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. Please refer to the math parent letter that was sent at the beginning of the 9 weeks to help child with standards. Look for extra practice in test folder. Upcoming tests & assignments Math quiz- Read and write numbers to 500 and compare 3 digit number quiz on Friday Math Drills-adding and subtracting within 20-5 minutes Grammar quiz- Adjectives on Tuesday and Adverbs on Friday Reading quiz Homework Complete work in the H.W. packet and Reading Log and return it no later than Friday! Spelling Vocabulary are with his for they be spike slope clap skate *there will be 5 more words on the spelling test that are not listed, but they follow the phonics lessons we are studying in SIPP’s. Terrible- very bad, horrible, or awful Terrific- very good, wonderful, or great Grumble- complain about something n a grouchy voice Scrunch- squeeze or crush *We will not have separate vocabulary tests anymore. However, we will go over these words weekly. The students will have word in context that they will have to infer the meaning using context clues. We are working on this in class.
