Procedure for calculating density Make a data table that contains the total mass of the liquid and graduated cylinder and the graduated cylinder. Measure our a pre-determined volume of substance #1 in a graduated cylinder (mL). Place the graduated cylinder with the liquid on a scale and measure the mass (g). Place the liquid back in a container beaker. Measure the mass (g) of the graduated cylinder using a scale. Record all values in the data table. Now to calculate the density; Divide the volume (mL) used by the mass (g) of the liquid. Repeat these steps with the other 3 substances.
