What is the longest you have spent away from your parents or family? How did you feel? Did you miss them?

These children are being evacuated. This means being moved from danger. The British government during World War Two decided that children should be moved out of major cities to protect them from bombing raids. Nearly a million British children were moved out of cities and placed in the homes of strangers for however long the war would last. Germany and Finland had similar programs for their children during the war years.

How does war affect children? Objective; To evaluate, through historical sources, the impact of WW2 on evacuated children
