Some title here It comes with horrible bullets Calibri font And lots of orange

Look at Slide Master What are the options for layouts?

How to get those layouts? Right click on slide in the slide sorter Choose Layout Apply layout

But it’s still pretty boring Fix bullet indentation Make text bigger Hide background graphics to get rid of your corporate branding elements (don’t do on all slides) Full page colour and or image – this slide deck has that option

Insert a picture full screen, then put a colour overlay on the top

My Presentation

QUESTIONS? Blank slide + full colour background + white text Good for signposting where you are in a presentation, moving between sections

What if you can’t go full size?

Add icons Here is my list List item 2 List item 3 This list is about my project brainstorming session Let’s add an icon now

Call out boxes Some text here More text We are writing a lot on this slide Issue will be resolved by Friday

Frame photos If you have to include a photo slapped on the slide, add a frame or a drop shadow Let’s add a frame now Issue will be resolved by Friday

More options without images

Title on the side in bold Some text here More text We are writing a lot on this slide Title on the side in bold

Here is the text that describes my first point or the beginning of the project. We don’t have to use any graphics, we are just making the font do the work 1

Align the bottom of the number with the page or the bottom of the text box Here is the text that describes my first point or the beginning of the project. We don’t have to use any graphics, we are just making the font do the work 1

My Title is here Some more interesting text here But we should make it bigger

Animations and transitions Don’t do it!

Quick fixes Be bold with colour but stick to corporate colours/single colour palette Be big Use boxes Add an extra slide for notes/handouts Make a ‘show’ deck and a ‘handout’ deck so you aren’t presenting with too many words on the screen Sharing slide decks: If the person receiving the deck does not have your specific font, the computer will default the font to something else. Your beautiful slides may look awful when laid out in Arial or Calibri. Choose standard fonts or PDF your slides to retain the formatting.

Places to get slides If you have the option to not use your corporate deck (or you don’t have one) then choose a great template Microsoft Office website – not so good creativemarket.com – sign up to their mailing list and get emailed about their weekly free items. They have slide decks for PPT and Keynote and sometimes Google Slides every other month or so. Or you can buy direct from the site if you see one that you like Or just look on Creative Market for slide inspiration and edit your own slides!

Places to get images Don’t take images off the internet. Use corporate-sanctioned pictures or images you are sure can be used for corporate purposes for no fee e.g. https://burst.shopify.com/ https://gratisography.com/ https://undraw.co/ - you can customise the colours on these https://thehungryjpeg.com/freebies has mock ups and backgrounds

Places to get icons Don’t take icons off the internet. It’s hard to find free icon sets with enough images in to give your presentation a cohesive look. Drawing packages have them included e.g. Picmonkey, Visme – create an image of just the icon and download it. Icon websites may not have permission to pass on the icons – go to the designer. Try these: http://handdrawngoods.com/freebies/ I like the Business and Jolly packs https://thehungryjpeg.com/freebie/39144-free-unicorn-icons (.psd files) https://thehungryjpeg.com/freebie/25700-free-communication-icons https://thehungryjpeg.com/freebie/24266-free-essential-icons-set
