Online Scheduling Instructions Go to www.mhscounseling.weebly.com . Under Current Happenings See Online Scheduling Information 4. Click on Parent/Student Access link.

Login 5. Enter your student login and password. Note: This is different than your parents’ login.

6. Under Arena Scheduling click Courses for 2013-14 to get started.

When you log in, the screen will be set to available. 7. Notice, the tabs across the top of your screen: Available, Selected Courses, Submit Classes & Messages. When you log in, the screen will be set to available. Click on the letters to see courses that start with A, B, C…..

By using the slide bar at the bottom of the screen and scrolling to the right, you can search for classes by period, by course name, by subject, or by teacher. You can click on the letters of the alphabet to see courses by name. You need to add TIES into next year’s schedule. Select hour 0 and choose the SAME teacher you have now.

8. Search for Classes: Unique courses such as MIVHS, Dual Enrollment Specialty Courses or special education courses will not appear as an available course to add. Message your counselor if you have questions about any of these course options. BE AWARE of PREREQUISITES! If you enroll in a class for which you are not eligible, counselors will have to take you out and this could mean rearranging your schedule and losing other courses for which you are eligible.

Search for Classes, cont.: Try the By Course & By Period views. There are multiple pages. Click on each letter..

Use the master schedule grid to map out a potential schedule Use the master schedule grid to map out a potential schedule. This will save time and energy searching for classes. It will also let you know if you have a potential schedule conflict ahead of time. PLEASE READ ALL COURSE DESCRIPTIONS and PREREQUISITES. PLEASE CONSULT GRAD REQUIREMENT SHEET.

9. Make your Selections: To add a class to your schedule, click on the + Add button next to the desired class.

10. Removing a Class: To remove a class that has been added to your schedule, click on the remove button.

Classes can be deleted from this screen too! 11. To see the classes you have selected click on the Selected Classes link. Classes can be deleted from this screen too!

12. Build your schedule: Continue to select classes for your schedule until you have scheduled all 5 for Trimesters 1, 2, & 3.

Flexibility Anticipate that you might not get everything exactly as you originally planned. Also anticipate that you may need to sacrifice certain classes, teachers, or hours to get graduation requirements. If your plan is not on track with graduation requirements (i.e. you are a junior and did not schedule two trimesters of junior English), counselors must adjust your selections and this may rearrange your schedule.

13. Submitting your Classes Before you submit, obtain parent approval. When you have finished selecting your classes you will need to submit them for approval by your counselor. IMPORTANT: Please do not submit your schedule until you have periods 1-5 FINALIZED for all trimesters. IMPORTANT: Once you have submitted your classes, your scheduling access is turned off and you must wait for counselor approval . To submit your class schedule for counselor approval, click on the Submit Classes tab and then click on the Submit Schedule button.

To print your schedule click on the Print button.

Reminders 1. You can communicate with your counselor by using the message tab on the scheduling screen. This is not an “instant” message. It is more like an email and may take a couple days for the counselor to return your message. 2. If you leave open spots, counselors will complete your schedule. This may mean rearranging courses you selected. All students must have all fifteen spots filled. 3. You can only access your online scheduling from your grade’s scheduling period. Check handout for dates.

Reminders Continued 4. Once you “submit” your schedule, you cannot make any additional changes without counselor assistance. 5. Your schedule does not become official until it has been approved by your counselor. 6. Check your student access account for messages to you from your counselor and to see if your schedule has been approved. 7. Once your schedule has been completed the only way to change it will be through the drop/add policy IF your change requests meets the drop/add criteria.

Questions ? You can use the Message tab on the scheduling screen to communicate with your counselor who will review your message and respond during school hours.
