Let’s Practice Education Family Attitude

Small Steps/Short-term What do you need to achieve in the next year to set you on your way to achieving your Big Picture goals? Set a few “small steps” with different deadlines For example, within a month, within six months, and within 9 months

Let’s Practice Education Family Attitude

Stay on track! Frequently review and update your small steps Periodically review and change/update your Big Picture to fit your changing priorities and experiences

More tips… Be precise-dates, times, amounts Prioritize-focus on most important goals Write it down & display it! Keep the small steps small-progress made will be more rewarding Try adding small addendums of what to avoid Ex. Original Goal: I will study every night before a test. Ex. Add: I will not use any technology when I get home on the night before a test until I have studied for 30 minutes

Tips con’t… Set performance goals, not outcome goals Do this-> PERFORMANCE: I will study my notes the night before every history test for at least 30 minutes this semester. SUPER specific, and requires an action Don’t do this-> OUTCOME: I will get an A in history. Requires no specific action or task Reward yourself appropriately!

Recap Set Big Picture Goals Set Small Step Goals Start working! Keep up with your progress, and reward yourself!

Quiz Time!

Assignment Be sure to consider all aspects of SMART when writing your goals!
