A histogram is a special type of bar graph used to display numerical data that has been organized into intervals. The heights of the bars show the number.
Graphing Notes. All graphs must have: Title: must be specific Labels on each axis: must include a UNIT put unit in parentheses ( m )

Review – write as verbal expressions, equations, inequalities Nine more than a number The difference of a number a and two is less than or equal to 16 Seven more than a number is 12

Objective: the objective of this lesson is for the students to demonstrate they know how to construct a line and/or bar graph. They will also need to know how to interpret them. They will also have an understanding of misleading graphs and what causes them. 1.6 Tables and Graphs

Notes Data: information, facts, or numbers that describe something. Bar Graph: organizes data. Uses vertical/horizontal bars Gaps between bars Don’t touch y - axis Line graph: shows data over time. X – axis: time

Causes of misleading graphs No title Scale doesn’t include 0 No labels on axis Intervals are not equal Size of graph misleads data Break in axis (most common)
