Keep a well-organized notebook/ binder by dates (descending order) Progress Monitoring Sheets Tab 1: Writing About Math/BellRingers/Daily Reviews Daily warm ups and journal entries are a crucial part of defining students’ metacognition of mathematical processes and concepts. Warm ups will tend to be a variety of math problems or a review of previous concepts. Journal entries will be content related, thought provoking questions. Tab 2: Class notes, foldables, graphic organizers Tab 3: Maintenance Sheets Tab 4: Quizzes and Test

Parents will be notified of missing assignments LATE Assignments will received 10 points off each day it’s late, after one week, the highest possible grade is a 50. Parents will be notified of missing assignments It is expected that ALL assignments are to be completed and turned in on time because learning is vastly more important than grades. When learning occurs, grades will follow.

Formative Assessments (Daily Grades & Quizzes) 40% It is the student’s responsibility to get missing assignments. Some daily grades cannot be made up if you are absent. Student will be exempt from that assignment Get the missing materials from the handout bin before or after class. If you need clarification or have questions about the assignment, ask Mrs. Hill after class. All graded work must be turned in within 3 school days after the student returns or that student will receive a zero (0).

Summative Assessments (Unit Tests, Projects, Benchmark/Comprehensive Test) 45%  If absent, students will be expected to make up assessment the next day they return. Progress monitoring chart completed after every test Test analysis after every test (no extra points awarded for corrections) Comprehensive Test will include ALL concepts we have covered throughout the year

Homework 15% Homework is important. Homework is an opportunity to practice concepts learned and prepare for upcoming assessments. Missing homework will result in lunch detention. Maintenance sheets at the start of every week. Review over all concepts Preparation for comprehensive test Due on Friday, unless we have a test, then its due on Thursday. Signed grade reports (easy 100 and helps with homework average) Parent signature required for failing students Parent Contact if not returned

Below 70 % on summative test will have MANDATORY tutoring during lunch If an assessment has not been given then tutoring is Voluntarily during lunch 8th Grade: Monday & Tuesday 6th & 7th Grade: Wednesday & Thursday

Use the agenda/calendar to record tests, assignments, announcements, and due dates This will also assist in building organizational and study skills Be prompt, prepared, organized and polite Comply with the Brooks County Schools Handbook Develop a consistent routine for completing homework and study time Don’t be afraid ask for help Be in class everyday
