Google Apps and a little Bit of eCLASS Naisha Lyons

Today will we focus on the following Google Apps Google Docs Google Forms Google Slides

Why should you use google Apps? Google Apps allows students to work collaboratively with their peers on classroom assignments. Teachers will always have the most updated copy of an assignment.Everything automatically saves! Students can finish work at home or anywhere with easy access to the file from any device. Teachers can provide feedback in real time and hold students accountable. Provides great data. It is fun and easy to use.

Most Important Tip! Have students share what they are working on immediately upon starting an assignment!

How can you use Google Docs in your classroom? Math Interactive Notes Student created reviews Answer Key with QR code for self-checking ELA Publish writing assignments Student created books, brochures, flyers Blogging Science Lab data collection Research using graphic organizers Social Studies Examples

How can you use Google Slides in your classroom? Math Scavenger hunt Problem solving-students can model their work using Kidspiration or paint Presentations- Students develop questions and provide answers on a following slide. ELA Presentations Book reports Students can create reviews Science Lab presentations Student created presentations Class presentations Social Studies Examples

How can you use Google Forms in your classroom? Google forms is a program that allows people to create surveys or a quiz. Several response options to created the type of form you need. Embed pictures and videos. Provides data spreadsheet that can be viewed holistically or individually. Can share the quiz or survey to collaboratively build or analyze it. Easy access for students. How can you use Google Forms in your classroom? * Always make a field Question for student names. I put last name, then first name for easy grade entering.

How can you use Google Forms in your classroom? You must check the Answer Key box at the bottom and select a Point value to have Responses automatically Graded. Also, I require all responses on a quiz.

Create Common Assessments-Make a copy for each teacher or have a dropdown for teacher name to view results for grade level Teacher or students can create surveys Teacher or students can create a review quiz Automatically grades multiple choice questions Surveys can be created for parents Tips for Google Forms Quizzes Allow students to see missed questions and scores, but not correct answers when giving whole group to promote honesty Print out below average score to send home with students.

Tips Teach your student how to use the snipping tool. It will make using technology 1,000 times easier! Students can use the snipping tool to submit information to the dropbox or embed their work or score into their presentations. Have students put their names in the title when creating something in Google Apps. Don’t be afraid to let your student explore. They can do more than we even know!
