Term One Overview Year Four 2017 Curriculum Overview Term One Overview Year Four 2017 Religion WALT: We are learning to: connecting ideas about living in community from different texts (including the Decalogue and the wisdom of St Paul, from the experiences of early Church communities in Australia (c.1788 CE – c.1850 CE) and different communities including contemporary Church communities. Science describe relationships that assist the survival of living things and sequence key stages in the life cycle of a plant or animal. identify when science is used to understand the effect of their actions. English describe literal and implied meaning connecting ideas in different texts  to create texts with clarity and detail. Students create structured texts to explain ideas for different audiences. make presentations and contribute actively to class and group discussions demonstrate understanding of grammar, select vocabulary from a range of resources and use accurate spelling and punctuation, re-reading and editing their work to improve meaning. Humanities and Social Sciences (Geography, History and Citizenship) WALT: We are learning to describe the experiences of an individual or group in the past. They describe and compare the diverse characteristics of different places at local to national scales. Students identify the interconnections between components of the environment and between people and the environment. Digital Technology explore digital systems in terms of their components, and peripheral devices such as digital microscopes, cameras and interactive whiteboards. One on one laptops - Digital Citizenship unit – cyber safety, responsible owners, Mathematics choose appropriate strategies for calculations involving multiplication and division. identify and explain strategies for finding unknown quantities in number sentences. describe number patterns resulting from multiplication. use the properties of odd and even numbers. recall multiplication facts to 10 x 10 and related division facts. continue number sequences involving multiples of single digit numbers. The Arts (Drama, Dance, Media and Visual Art) Drama: integrated with Religion Visual Art: We are learning to: use a range of representational elements, techniques and processes to communicate their ideas and intentions. (World Environment Day Logan City Council). Music: Specialist teacher Design Technology students describe how social, technical and sustainability factors influence the design of solutions to meet present and future needs.
