My University of Choice By Brandon Yoon

Why do I want to go to this institution? I want to study at one of Canada’s most prestigious universities and hopefully graduate with a business degree. I want to experience the busy city life of Downtown Toronto, where the university campus is located.

Admission Requirements (Rotman Commerce ) High School Diploma with six approved academic subjects with an average of high- 80’s on each course. Approved academic subjects include Biology 12, Chemistry 12, English 12, Calculus 12, Spanish 12, and Law 12 (courses that I am going to take at grade 12) Requires completion of Provincial exams. Requires completion of Rotman Commerce Supplemental Application.

Cost for one year Fees for the Rotman Commerce depend on the year of study, the number of credits or courses you are enrolled in, and whether or not you are an international student. For year 1, the tuition, including ancillary fees is around $7435.47. For year 2-4, the cost bumps up to $15 941.40 For supplies and books, the cost is $1000. Residence fee can range from $7,985 to $15,00 depending on where you choose to live, whether you purchase a meal plan, or buy and prepare your own food.

Length of Program The Rotman Commerce Program lasts for four years. In the first year, students will be introduced to the major areas of business study. In the second year, students will pick a specialization in one of three core areas: Accounting, Finance and Economics, or Management. Students may also choose to minor or major in a second subject. The third and fourth years will be spent in advanced courses to complete the specialist, major, and elective requirements.

The course that I would take in the program I would choose Accounting as my specialist course in the second year of the program. I think I will enjoy studying this course because I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems that require high- level thinking and logical reasoning. I am fully aware that the course is very challenging and demanding so I’ll have to start honing my skills now. If I am ever accepted into the course, I highly anticipate the various teaching methods that it has to offer. Some include case- based lessons, experimental learning, guest lectures and student presentations.

Scholarships I could apply to To find out which scholarships that I could apply for, I used a website called http://www.scholarshipscanada.com. What the website does is that it asks various information about myself, such as current school, average, interests, extra- curricular activities and finds scholarships that are most fit to me. I got 18 scholarships that highly matched me, totalling in at $73 486 in value, so I was quite happy. In particular, I am interested in the Centre for Digital Media Entrance and NCYCNA Scholarships because they are easy to apply for, and have the necessary requirements for it.
