MDP Suggestions… …from the class of 2014

Do you have any suggestions for students taking on the Major Design Project next year?

“Don’t waste time at the start. Be organised and document all ideas “Don’t waste time at the start. Be organised and document all ideas. Choose an area that you have an interest in.”

“Time management – you need to plan time amongst all class subjects, then plan how you are going to use your allotted time for DT. Allow for worst case scenario, e.g. something breaks or needs to be changed, an aspect taking too long etc. Be set with your ideas and confident in its design.

“As soon as you have a completed drawing/layout of your design, start the realisation process straight away.”

“Put aside one or more lessons per week to focus on the folio “Put aside one or more lessons per week to focus on the folio. This way there won’t be as much of a rush at the end of the year.”

“Choose wisely. Have a really good idea. Make something really cool “Choose wisely. Have a really good idea. Make something really cool. Actually do work in the first term, you don’t actually have that much time.”

“Always be doing something “Always be doing something. Whether it is small thumbnail sketches or updating an action plan. When you bring it all together, you’ll be happy that you spent that double in Term 4 2014 doing pages of sketches.”

“As much as you will be told to start early, it is 100% necessary to work as hard as you can in the beginning of the product so that nothing is rushed through like construction and folio in the last hours of the project.”

“Choose a design quickly, and definitely stay on top of planning such as time plans and action plans. Enjoy the process and challenge yourself! As it can be quite rewarding.”

“Do something within your skill level.”
