Do you enjoy mystery, magic, and the unknown? Then read Alanna: The First Adventure (The Song of the Lioness) It is By Tamora Pierce is for you.

Born in a mystic kingdom, Alanna and Thom of Trebond were born twins but they were very different from each other in many ways.

They were raised by talent healers and strong warriors who taught them about magic and being a knight for the kingdom of Tortall,

Alanna was fascinated by the story of battles and adventures and dreamed of being a knight. Thom wanted of to become a great and powerful sorcerer. But their Father has other ideas.

When their mother died at birth, their father buried himself in his books. He paid little or not attention to either Alanna or Thom. But when they came of age their preoccupied father decided to send them away to finish their education.

Alanna was ordered to go to the temple in the City of the Gods, to learn to how to become a young lady and work on her magical skills. Skills she mistrusted. To her, this is a fate worse than death. Thom was destined for the royal palace, where he would train to be a knight; his worst nightmare. Call it fate, call it intuition, or just call it common sense, but somehow young Alanna knew she wasn’t meant to become some proper lady cloistered in a convent. So the twins came up with a plan.

They switched places. Thom went to the City of the Gods to become a scorer. Alanna changed her name to Alan, put on boys clothes, cut her hair, and made her way to the castle of King Roald to be trained as a knight.

As Alan of Trebond, Alanna met many interesting people.

Like Alan’s two best friends: Jonathan of Conté - The heir to the throne of Tortall and George Cooper King of the Thieves in court of Rouges. But Then there was Roger of Conté - Jonathan's adult cousin, a powerful magician and second in line for the throne; Alanna mistrusts him but just could not figure why. No one suspected she was a girl since she so talent with sword. In this kingdom girls never trained to be knights. It was not proper.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Heavy_mist.jpg Will they find out Alan is really Alanna? Will she fulfill her dream and become a knight? Will she over come her distrust of her magic?
