If the bathroom pass is present AND Ms. Kemp is not giving instruction, I may take the pass and go to the bathroom. I DON’T HAVE TO ASK. 2. If I am absent, I will ask for missed assignments before or after school. 3. I may only make up assignments in tutoring (after 2 days), unless it is for an excused absence. 4. I am responsible for reading the board when I come in and getting what I need 5. I must have my spiral and index cards at all times – no excuses

Goals goal: I will go to the gym after work M, W, Th, F On the next half of page 32: Title it “New Year Goals” Write a goal you have for this year Now write two things you are going to do to help you achieve it You must create at least two goals with steps Example: goal: I leave work by 5:30 each day. step 1: Limit days for tutoring after school to Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday step 2: I will utilize my lunch break for grading and planning. goal: I will go to Bible study Tuesday nights step 1: I will leave work by 5:00 on Tuesdays step 2: I will take a friend, so I can’t back out goal: I will go to the gym after work M, W, Th, F step 1: I will leave work by 5:30 step 2: I will change into my work out clothes before I leave

Touching Spirit Bear Time line pg. 28 1 Cole is a troubled teen abused by his parents. 2 Cole’s parents divorce 3 Cole robs a hardware store 4 Peter reports Cole’s robbery 5 Cole beats up Peter Driscol leaving him disabled 6 Cole placed in a detention center 7 Cole is to be tried as an adult 8 Garvey suggests circle justice 9 Cole is accepted into Circle of Justice 10 Circle justice begins meeting 11 Cole reveals his father’s abuse at circle justice 12 Garvey visits Cole at the detention center and gives cake analogy

Touching Spirit Bear Time line 13 Circle justice agrees to send Cole to the island 14 Edwin builds a shelter for Cole on the island 15 Edwin and Garvey take Cole to the island 16 Cole arrives at the island 17 Cole burns down the wood shelter and supplies 18 Cole tries to escape the island by swimming but fails 19 Cole eats a fish taken from seagulls and plans his next attempt to escape 20 Cole sees the Spirit Bear 21 Bear attacked Cole breaking his pelvis, shoulder, right arm, and ribs 22 Cole is unable to move resents sparrows 23 Huge storm makes Cole realize his insignificance 24 Tree with sparrows struck down and Cole asks “Are you okay?”

Add the following to a timeline in order 25 Cole eats a mouse, worms, grass and vomit 26 Cole realizes he is part of the circle; he wants to live and find meaning. 27 The bear comes to Cole and he experiences trust 28 Cole is rescued by Garvey and Edwin. 29 Rosey helps take care of Cole 30 Cole accepts blame for what happened 31 Cole’s mom reports his dad’s abuse & his dad is charged with child abuse 32 Cole hospitalized until well enough to return to detention center 33 Cole returns to Circle of Justice. 34 Circle of Justice meets and Edwin does demonstration & supports Cole 35Cole continues to say he has seen the Spirit Bear in C of J 36 Cole’s sincere change leads Edwin and Garvey to convince Circle to release him to their custody- Cole is going back to the island
