Who was Huasca and Atahualpa? By the 16th century, the man responsible for this great empire was Huavna Capac- a fair ruler who had several sons all vying to rule the empire alone. The legitimate prince, Túpac Cusi Hualpa (Huáscar), had been raised as the successor. Atahualpa was an illegitimate son, but he had the same aspirations as Huáscar. Once their father died, the two immersed the Empire in a civil war.
What is smallpox? Smallpox is a very serious illness caused by a virus called the variola virus. Smallpox gets its name from the pus-filled blisters (or pocks) that form during the illness. Although the names may sound alike, smallpox is not related to chickenpox, which is a milder disease caused by a different virus.
