The increasing flow of people, capital, goods and ideas across international boundaries illustrates the demise of nation state. The growth of trading blocs and TNC’s heralds an New World Order in which individual countries are less important than before.

Annual Sales (US$ billions) TNC’s Rank Country Annual Sales (US$ billions) 1 USA 13,811 2 Japan 4,376 3 Germany 3,297 4 China 3,280 5 UK 2,727 Company Walmart (USA) 379 Exxon-Mobil (USA) 358 Royal Dutch Shell (Netherlands) 355 Toyota (Japan) 204 Chevron (USA)

Activities Using Geography For The IB Diploma P200-202, answer the following… What is resource nationalisation? Why did Bolivia pursue resource nationalisation? In the long-term, how could this policy have benefits as well as disadvantages to Bolivia? Why have Bolivia’s recent policies to cope with globalisation created tension with the USA? Using Figure 3 (P201), how does it show that globalisation was the “way forward” for Bolivia?
