WORKING ON YOUR BODY ;) RESEARCH BASED MAGAZINE ARTICLE

PARAPHRASE REMINDER… How to source a paraphrase… Paraphrase 70% and source. Find synonyms and rephrase statistics. A) 23% -- almost a quarter B) 57% -- more than half C) 33% -- one third of … How to source a paraphrase… According to (author/occupation), (Author/Occupation) states/reports that..

BODY #1 AND BODY #2 Develop the author`s controlling idea that expands the main topic of the article into subtopics (splitting your ideas). Important things to include: Subheadings are obligatory. They should be catchy too. Personal viewpoints of people interviewed. Opinions from authorities and experts. Quotes and interviews (TAKEN FROM ARTICLE AND AUDIO CAST)* Anecdotes and stories. Specific names, places and dates. Photographs, tables, diagrams and graphs. Focus your writing on the target audience: TEENAGERS.

HOW TO WRITE A BODY TOPIC SENTENCE: INTRODUCING TOPIC WITH SPECIFIC TYPE OF ANGLE IN A CATCHY WAY SOURCES: MENTION 3 PARAPHRASED SOURCES AND IN BETWEEN THE SOURCES TRY TO USE RHETORICAL QUESTIONS LIKE: CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ISN`T THAT INCREDIBLE? CLOSING SENTENCE: CLOSE THE TOPIC WITH SPECIFIC TYPE OF ANGLE IN A CATCHY WAY GIVING A HEADS UP TO TEENAGERS THROUGH A RHETORICAL QUESTION OR THROUGH A CHOICE: WOULD YOU RATHER SEND A TEXT AND END A LIFE OR HOLD OFF PRESSING SEND AND LIVING YOUR LIFE.

BODY EXAMPLE Topic: Text & Driving Angle: Consequences (-) Subhead: Texting & Dying Topic sentence: We all know that talking on the phone and driving is illegal. However, we never really talk about texting and driving. Texting while conducting a vehicle can have pretty major consequences including death. Sources:According to studies done at Harvard University (2010), 3000 deaths are caused by car accidents alone where the driver was distracted by a cellular device. Can you believe it !?! Based on the same study, you can do the math and you`ll realize that a whopping 74% of the deceased passed away in a car with a texting driver. Closing sentence: What would you rather do: put your phone down and stay alive, or text and die?

ALTOGETHER We all know that talking on the phone and driving is illegal. However, we never really talk about texting and driving. Texting while conducting a vehicle can have pretty major consequences including death. According to studies done at Harvard University (2010), 3000 deaths are caused by car accidents alone where the driver was distracted by a cellular device. Can you believe it !?! Based on the same study, you can do the math and you`ll realize that a whopping 74% of the deceased passed away in a car with a texting driver. What would you rather do put your phone down and stay alive, or text and die?

NOTICE YOUR TOPIC SENTENCE NEEDS TO MENTION THE TOPIC AND THE SPECIFIC TYPE OF ANGLE YOU ARE FOCUSING ON. YOUR SOURCES NEED TO BE PARAPHRASED AND NEEDS TO SUPPORT THE TYPE OF ANGLE. IN BETWEEN SOURCES YOU CAN WRITE RHETORICAL QUESTIONS LIKE : CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ISN`T THAT CRAZY? YOU CAN ALSO USE CONTRACTIONS AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOCUSING ON THE RIGHT AUDIENCE --- TEENAGERS YOUR CLOSING SENTENCE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE READER IN RELATION TO THE SPECIFIC TYPE OF ANGLE LIKE: THE NEXT TIME YOU PRESS SEND BEHIND THE WHEEL, YOU MIGHT BE RIDING IN AN AMBULANCE CAR.

BODY TASK: DONE INDIVIDUALLY TOPIC: TEXTING AND DRIVING ANGLE: NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES IN THE TWO ARTICLES THAT YOU READ, THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONSEQUENCES THAT YOU CAN POTENTIALLY WRITE A BODY ABOUT SUCH AS: 1) Deaths & Casualties 2) Financial Issues (Fines) 3) Recognized as being more severe than Drunk Driving YOU MUST WRITE ONE BODY WHICH SHOULD INCLUDE AT LEAST 3 PARAPHRASED SOURCES.

ONCE COMPLETED… COPY PASTE YOUR BODY ONTO THIS PADLET BELOW AND PLEASE WRITE YOUR NAME…ANYONE WHO DOES NOT DO SO WILL GET AN INTERVENTION SEEING AS THIS ACTIVITY WILL HELP YOU PRACTICE WRITING YOUR MINISTRY EXAM AND MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
