Giraffes Can’t Dance
Do you like animals? Which one? Tell me about some wild animals that you know or you have heard of. What do you think they do when nobody sees them? Do you think they like music or that they can dance? How do you feel when you cannot do something that everybody else can? Who has helped you in those situations?
Look at the picture and think of 8 questions to ask.
Synopsis The story is about a giraffe, called Gerald. He cannot dance like the other animals in the jungle, so they laugh at him. However, Gerald meets a friend, who encourages and helps him with his problem.

What have you learnt from the story? But an encouraging word from an unlikely source shows this glum giraffe that those who are different "just need a different song," and soon he is prancing and sashaying and boogying to moon music (with a cricket accompanist). In the vein of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Gerald's fickle "friends" quickly decide he's worthy of their attention again. With this rhyming, poignant (in a cartoonish way) tale, Giles Andreae shows insecure young readers that everyone can be wonderful, even those that march to the beat of a different cricket.
