Find a reasonable domain given a situation Algebra 1 CC Regents Summary Domain Find a reasonable domain given a situation 2) Inequalities -Solid vs dotted -Flip symbol when dividing by a negative -Shading -Know “at least” and “at most”

3) Linear Equations Know meaning of m and b in the context of the question Be able to write a linear equation given a situation Graph a linear function 4) Functions Each x can have only one y Be able to determine if linear or exponential (usually from table) Vertical line test

5) Average Rate of Change This is always slope- find the change in the y values divided by the change in x values 6) Quadratics Solve (find the roots, zeros, x-intercepts) using either Factoring (don´t forget GCF!!) Complete the square Quadratic Formula Be sure to distribute, combine all like terms and set = 0 before attempting any of the above methods

Graphing Be able to find the vertex (max or min) a) Use axis of symmetry formula (x = -b/2a) or table on calc     b) Identify interval when the graph is increasing/decreasing      c) Interpret the meaning of the max/min in terms of the situation 7) Exponential Be able to identify initial value and rate of growth/decay

8) Parent Functions Be able to identify the graphs of each of the parent functions especially Quadratic, Linear, Exponential, Square Root and Absolute value 9) Transformations Know all rules Be able to identify in problems

10) Systems of Equations Graphically Elimination Substitution

11) Stats Know all Calc Stuff: STAT-> Calc-> #1 for 5 number summary, mean and standard deviation STAT-> Calc-> #4 for linear regression line (line of best fit) and correlation coefficient (turn diagnostics on) STAT -> Calc-> #0 for exponential regression equation Residuals No pattern = good fit Pattern = poor fit Boxplot- Graph of 5 # summary

Additional Topics Rational/Irrational numbers Sequences - n = term # Find equation given a table Solve equation for a variable (V = rht) Factor completely
