Twist endings Year 10 Creative Writing

objectives To develop ideas in a piece of writing To create effects suited to your studied genre (horror fiction) To write with fluency and accuracy To develop an original personal voice

Getting Started Today we will test the use of My Portfolio. Make sure your My Portfolio profile is prepared. Add yourself to 10 English ASN (grouP) and create a page on your profile called 10 English Writing Portfolio. Edit your English Writing Portfolio page by adding My Journal. Complete Task 1 as a journal entry on My Portfolio. Complete Task 2 on a word document (or similar) and upload the file to your My Portfolio writing portfolio page.

Writing tasks Task 1: Imagine you are home alone on a dark, stormy night. It is dark. You have been watching a movie. Suddenly, the lights go out. Somewhere, down the hall you hear a sound – could someone be in the house? What do you do? Write a paragraph showing your reaction. Task 2: As part of a PE assessment, your class goes on a day long tramp. But you and a friend wander off and get lost. Before you know it, you are lost in the bush and it is getting dark. And as you wander around trying to find your way, you hear a sound… Write a paragraph that builds tension and ends in surprise.

Homework Complete and upload portfolio writing tonight. Record and email any issues to asn@pakuranga.school.nz
