Autumn Two: London and Beyond Reception: Autumn Two Overview For the beginning of the Autumn Term Two, Reception will be learning to tell the popular story ‘Peace at Last’. Exploring the sounds of the story, children will begin to use instruments to recreate the noises which keep poor Mr Bear awake all night! Children will share information about traditions in their own families helping each other to learn about similarities and differences within our community. Communication and Language Physical Development Personal, Social and Emotional Development including RRS Why is it important to get enough sleep? Climbing and jumping. Story Telling Actions Role Play Film – story telling Feelings – how does it feel to be tired? Listening walk – what do you hear? How do you feel? Exploring Media and Materials Understanding the World Large scale collage of characters. Instruments – sounds from the story. What instrument makes this noise? Literacy Is this family like yours? Traditions and customs. Homes – similarities and differences Listening walk around school – what sounds are the same/different? Who is your favourite character and why? What is each character saying/thinking? What will happen next? What happened the next day? Innovating the story. Other Core Texts: Bedtime for Monsters Mathematics Over the year, children will continue to develop their mathematical skills and knowledge through Maths Mastery. Alongside this, the children will apply their maths skills across the curriculum, for example comparing the size of animal homes and comparing weights of fruits. Review 2016
