Two types of Clauses In sentences, there are two types of clauses: independent and dependent Independent Clause: contains a subject and verb, and expresses a complete thought Santa Claus delivers toys. Dependent Clause: contains a subject and verb, but it contains a subordinator, and it doesn’t express a complete thought because he is a jolly old soul. In other words, the dependent clause depends on the independent clause

Compound-Complex Sentences This sentence type takes the compound sentence and the complex sentence and smooshes them together.
