Sample Student Essays Go to the board and put a check mark in the box that corresponds with the score you gave each student essay. Let’s talk about patterns in your scores. Then, I’ll show you the real scores and comments from the scorers.

2008 Synthesis Prompt Now, you are going to try a synthesis essay. Read each source, annotating for whether the source seems to help defend, challenge, or qualify the claim.

2008 Synthesis Prompt You will have 40 minutes to write a cohesive, well-supported essay. (I subtracted the reading time since we did it as a group). Don’t forget: -Use at least 4/6 sources! -Use paragraphing! -Spelling & grammar count! -Transitions! -Write a strong hook and thesis!
