What do we need? What do you think a plant needs?

1 Water The plant drinks in the water through it’s roots Just like we need water to survive, so does a plant!

Air 2 Gives plants carbon dioxide – a gas Just like we need air to breathe, a plant needs air to survive as well

Soil (food) 3 Gives the plant food Nutrients – substances, like minerals, that all living things need to grow

Sunlight 4 Plants cannot survive in total darkness Gives off warmth Just like we need the warmth from the sunlight, so do plants
