The Graphic Novel Project Due: Next Wednesday, 11/19. *Those who use ALL class time wisely should be able to finish in class. Let’s review the requirements and the rubric.

I’ll know I met the standard when I… Looking at the rubric, please list 3 things that you know you will need to do in your graphic novel to meet each of the five standards: Narrative Writing Writing Process Use of Graphic Novel Devices Theme Characters

Possible Story Ideas Autobiographical / Biographical (Please change all names!) Inspired by a previous unit (i.e. struggle with culture, stereotyping, immigration, etc.) Relatable Teen Angst (bullying, peer pressure, teen pregnancy, family issues, school issues) Real World Teen Angst (refugees, human trafficking, living in war, extreme poverty, etc.)

Review Student Work Look at some examples from former students to gain ideas and see the layout, art, etc. What makes a good graphic novel?

Storyboard Remember the first step is to come up with your idea and then storyboard, which basically means write out every element of your story. Use the sheet provided to storyboard. You MUST receive the teacher’s signature on your project handout in order to move to the next step.

Summarizer What will be the first thing you do tomorrow?
