Affirmative Action Warm-up Read the handout titled: “The Federal Government Confronts Racism.” In your notebook, write and answer the following questions with your partner: What is affirmative action? Which US Presidents are responsible for this policy and what did each do to promote it? Why is affirmative action so controversial? What supreme court case challenged this policy? Describe what happened. (Include who was involved, what happened, the final ruling of the case, and the outcome.)
