End of Year United States History Project Instructions

Objective Students will research, learn and present a PowerPoint Presentation upon a given topic from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s,1980s, or 1990s. Information presented will include significant persons, relevant music, national events or crisis, fashions, political events, protest movements, the role of women, etc.…

Procedure Students will work individually Each student will create a 5 minute presentation containing a minimum of 10 slides Every student must be responsible for their own work! The presentation must be an original creation. The information shall not contain information copied from the textbook. The research should not be copied and pasted from completed works of others found on the internet. However, images, music, short clips, etc., available on the internet are acceptable. The presentation shall have textual slides interspersed between image slides for background and continuity purposes Students will be evaluated by their peers as well as the teacher.

Grade Final grade for this project will count for 400 points as follows: 100 points based on poster 100 points based on outline 100 points based on PowerPoint slides 100 points based on Presentation 200 points based on the quiz results.

Poster Rubric Preparedness – on time, turned in by due date (10 points deducted for every day late!) Clarity – poster is clear, easy to read and well organized Graphics – good picture(s) which relate to topic and information on poster Content – understanding of the topic Eye Appeal/Color – good use of color

Outline Rubric Preparedness – on time, turned in by due date (10 points deducted for every day late!) Clarity – outline includes a clear, easy to understand thesis and indicates well organized research and content Content – shows understanding of the topic and interesting perspectives

PowerPoint Rubric Preparedness – on time, turned in by due date (10 points deducted for every day late!) Well organized -- slides with a good mix of pictures and content Clarity – slides are clear, easy to understand and lettering is large enough to read Content – shows understanding of the topic, interesting perspectives and is sequenced in a logical manner

Oral Presentation Rubric Preparedness – shows rehearsal Comprehension -- ability to answer questions Clarity – speaks clearly and distinctly Time-Limit – 5 minutes (+/- 1 minute) Content – understanding of the topic Posture/Eye Contact – confident, relaxed
