Circumference & Composite Figures 9.2B & 9.3A
The distance AROUND a shape. Perimeter: The distance AROUND a shape. a Just ADD up the sides d b c a + b + c + d = Per.
The distance AROUND a CIRCLE. Circumference The distance AROUND a CIRCLE. There are NO sides?! r d C = ∏ ∙ D or C= 2 ∙ ∏ ∙ r
A shape that is made up of MORE than 1 polygon. Composite Figures: A shape that is made up of MORE than 1 polygon. 14 10 8 = 56 10 14 Make sure you have ALL the sides labeled BEFORE adding!
As always…watch out for circles! Find the shapes – Trapezoid & ½ circle. Use the formula for circles! 1.57 x 15 = 23.55 (you may use 3.14 and then cut your answer in 1/2! 15 25 25 Now ADD them up…but remember to LINE up the decimals! 32.5 25.0 + 32.5 + 25.0 + 23.55 = 106.05
Be careful of Tricky shapes with a LOT of missing sides!!! 16 To find the side you have to subtract the one side of 14 with the other side of 7! 7 9 14 7 25 To find the top you subtract the bottom 25 from the little 9 piece! 14 + 16 + 7 + 9 + 7 + 25 = 78
