Front Cover Write your name (consider direction, style, color) Draw symbols that represent people, places, things, and values that are meaningful to you. Include one symbol for each category below. A Hobby (how you like to spend your time) A Relationship (parent, sibling, friend, mentor) A Dream (you have or have accomplished) A Challenge (you are facing or have faced) A Role model (some that you look up to for some reason)

Back Cover Create a SIMILE with an image and explanation I am like a ….. Make a list of your qualities/traits and then think about what you could compare yourself to. (an animal/object/place) Be as specific and creative as possible I am like a dusty, unopened book stored in the archives of a busy, newly-renovated library.

PART II: First Journal response (Date required) Describe your journal and your design choices. What inspired you to create your journal the way that you did? Example: You drew a horse. Your explanation is NOT I like horses. It IS I drew a picture of my first horse. I received it as a gift from my parents at age 5. Riding is really important to me because it is one of the first memories I have with my mom. Even though she is a busy person, she still makes time to go riding with me during the week. Riding allows us to reconnect. I also love riding because I feel free when I ride. I gallop through the fields with the sun shining down on me and nothing to get in my way. During these times, I am able to forget the stresses of life and just enjoy the freedom.

Before you create your covers, you need to plan them out. When you have planned out your journal cover, you may complete your good copy using white paper and markers.
