Trans-Saharan Trade Trade route that stretched across the Sahara Desert Gold and Salt were the most valuable Salt is a mineral needed for good health Salt = Gold in value Any good that can be bought or sold is known as a commodity

Mediterranean Zone provided weapons, cloth, and spices for trade

Desert Zone Provided rock salt. It is a necessary mineral for human health. It was traded south into the Savanna and Tropical Rain forest Zones. People traveled on Camels to transfer goods

Savanna Zone cattle, donkeys, and cotton were traded. Gold was located in the Savanna in the Bambuk-Bure gold fields. donkeys and cattle would transports goods

Rainforest Zone Kola nuts, a high in caffeine nut. Gold was also located in the rain forest in the Akan gold field Humans and ships transferred goods because the tsetse fly would kill animals
