The Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming

A comparison… A Greenhouse: the glass panels let the sunlight in but they also keep the heat from escaping The Atmosphere traps radiant energy from the sun Instead of having glass panels like a greenhouse, we have greenhouse gases

The Greenhouse Effect 1 – Sunlight enters Earth’s atmosphere passing through the greenhouse gases 2 – It reaches the surface and its energy is absorbed 3 – Once it’s absorbed it’s sent back into the atmosphere 4 – Some passes through to space while most of it is trapped by the gases – this heats the Earth

Global Warming an average increase in the Earth's temperature Earth has actually been warmed 1 degree in the last 100 years. Some scientists believe that it’s people and their pollution that’s causing the increase in heat A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans.
