Presentation transcript:

Media – Creating Adverts Today’s focus: To understand the make up of a Magazine / paper based advert. To be able to create an advert for a product with a key focus on who the target audience is.

What are the key terms that are utilised in an advert?   Please copy this table into your books The copy The graphics The brand Characters Story Reminders slogan Target audience Motivation The advert as a whole

You are about to see a typical magazine advert. When looking at this advert, try to identify one of the techniques and be prepared to feedback on what the technique is and what the advert creator is trying to do.

Who is the woman that the manufacturers are trying to attract here?

How different do you think this advert might be if it was aimed at a teenage market?

How different do you think this advert might be if it was aimed at an OAP market?

How different do you think this advert might be if it was aimed at a market of working mothers?

How different do you think this advert might be if it was trying to make men buy the product for their partner?

How different do you think this advert might be if it was trying to make children buy the product for their mother?

Your role today is to consider exactly how adverts will be different for each different audience. Using the table that you have copied into your books, I would like you to plan a campaign for a cosmetic gift. The gift is a selection of relaxing bath products. Each table will be given a different audience to target and you must plan your campaign accordingly.

Your audiences: A teenage girl A teenager buying as a Christmas gift for the mother. A working mother. A successful business woman A man buying as a gift for his wife. An old lady

The rest of today’s lesson – to be completed for homework. You are to create your advert for your homework, ensuring that all of the essential ingredients of an advert are included. It should be A4 in size and can be drawn or designed on the computer. You should also aim to show where the key features are by annotating it.
