Science Class Procedures

How are you expected to take notes? You can find examples and videos online and throughout examples in class.

Ms. Houghton’s classroom procedures How do I get a chance to share information with teacher or class? You are expected to raise your hand if you want to share with Ms. Houghton or the rest of the class. Comments that are not important enough for you to raise your hand are to be kept to yourself. ?

When to sharpen my pencil? Sharpen your pencil or obtain lead before class. If your pencil breaks during class, raise your pencil in the air and wait for permission to go sharpen it. You should check at the beginning of class to see if you have enough lead. Clean up your own lead! When to sharpen my pencil?

Permission will not be given during the FIRST or LAST 10 minutes of class. Permission will not be given during notes or when Ms. Houghton is speaking. You will need to open your agenda to your hall passes for Ms. Houghton to sign. Permission to : -Go to the bathroom -Get water

Permission to get up for : -A tissue -Get hand sanitizer - Recycle - Trash All of these can be taken care of after notes and when you are working on your own. Raise your hand before leaving your seat to get a tissue. Trash can be taken care of at the end of class. Trash/recycling is to be dropped into the baskets, not thrown = silent lunch.

How to get my MAKEUP WORK? It is your responsibility to check for work when you return. Copies of handouts will be in the basket. Sign the log when you pick up your work. You will also need to update your TOC and ask a classmate for notes that you missed. You will need to schedule a time with Ms. Houghton to make up any missed labs, quizzes, or tests. You will need to turn in any work that was due when you were absent. How to get my MAKEUP WORK? NOT LATE OR MISSING WORK

Questions about: -Procedures -Assignment -Materials If you missed hearing directions or need to borrow materials, Ms. Houghton’s expectation is that you “Ask 3 Before You Ask Me”. This means you should ask at least 3 classmates to find the answer or to borrow materials. If you still don’t have your answer or materials, then you can ask Ms. Houghton. This must be done in a non-disruptive manner. Questions about: -Procedures -Assignment -Materials

When Ms. Houghton needs your attention, she will call “BLOCKADE RUNNERS”. This means you are to stop what you are doing immediately, whether it be talking to a classmate, working on an assignment, or moving around the room. ATTENTION GETTER:

When you enter the room, you are expected to sit in your assigned seat and follow posted directions. Once you enter the classroom you may not leave. How to start class?

Ms. Houghton will dismiss you from class Ms. Houghton will dismiss you from class. You are expected to push in your chair and leave class quietly. The last class of the day will put up the chairs after announcements. How to end class?

If you have misplaced a copy of a handout, it is your responsibility to print a new copy from our team Weebly or Edmodo. Ms. Houghton will not provide you a copy during class. Lost work?
