* 07/16/96 General Information Ninth graders entering high school in fall 2014 (Class of 2018) will graduate under the Foundation High School Program (FHSP) AND earn an endorsement. Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders in 2013-14 may choose to graduate under the MHSP, RHSP, DAP, or FHSP. S *

General Information A current Freshman must indicate in writing an endorsement that the student intends to earn. A student can change their endorsement.

Foundation Course Requirements English – 4 credits English I, II, III, & Advanced English PACE – ½ credit Mathematics – 3 credits Algebra I, Geometry, & Advanced Math Science – 3 credits Biology, IPC/Chemistry/Physics, & Advanced Science

Foundation Course Requirements cont. Social Studies – 3 credits World Geography OR World History US History Government (1/2) & Economics (1/2) Languages Other than English – 2 credits in the same language

Foundation Course Requirements cont. Physical Education – 1 credit Health – ½ credit Fine Arts – 1 credit Electives – 4 credits Total = 22 credits

Understanding the Endorsements The Endorsements include the Foundation Plan (22 credits) plus… One additional math credit One additional science credit Two additional electives FHSP + Endorsement = 26 credits

Business & Industry – 3 Paths 1 Business & Industry – 3 Paths 1. CTE – 4 credits by taking at least 2 courses in the SAME career cluster with at least 1 advanced course Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Architecture & Construction Arts, Audio/Video Technology, & Communications Business Management & Administration Marketing Information Technology Manufacturing Hospitality & Tourism Finance Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics

Business & Industry, Continued… 2. English – Four English ELECTIVE credits (in addition to required English credits) with three levels in the following areas: Advanced Journalism – Newspaper or Yearbook Public Speaking Debate

Business & Industry, Continued… Technology – Four Technology Applications credits from the following: Animation or Advanced Animation Web Technologies I Digital & Interactive Multimedia Computer Programming Business Information Management Audio/Video Production

Public Services – 2 Options CTE – Four credits by taking at least 2 courses in same career cluster Education & Training Health Sciences Human Services *with at least 1 advanced course – 3rd or higher course in sequence JROTC – Four courses for 4 credits

Arts & Humanities – 4 Options Social Studies – A total of 5 courses for 5 credits Foreign Language Four levels of same language OR Two levels of two different languages Fine Arts Four courses in same fine arts area OR Two courses in one fine arts area and two courses in different fine arts area English – 4 English ELECTIVE credits (in addition to required English credits)

Multidisciplinary – 3 Options 4x4 – Four courses in each of the 4 core subject areas, to include English IV and Chemistry and/or Physics AP – Four AP credits or four Dual Credit courses from among English, Math, Science, Social Studies, LOTE, or Fine Arts CTE – Four courses that prep a student to enter the workforce/post-secondary education without remediation from within one endorsement area, or among endorsement areas not in a coherent sequence

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) The STEM endorsement must include: Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics regardless of the option the student chooses to meet the endorsement requirements.

STEM – 5 Options Computer Science – 3 Courses Computer Programming Computer Science AP Advanced Computer Science or Computer Science Problems and Solutions CTE – Four credits by taking at least 2 courses in the same cluster that lead to a final course in the STEM cluster with at least 1 course at advanced level

STEM, Continued… Math – 5 credits: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, AND 2 courses for which Algebra II is a prerequisite Science – 5 credits: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, AND 2 courses from the 4th Science course list Combination – Algebra II, Chemistry, Physics, an additional math course, and additional science course, AND three additional credits from Option 1 (Computer Science) and/or Option 2 (CTE) in the STEM endorsement

Distinguished Level of Achievement A student must earn distinguished level of achievement to be eligible for the top 10% automatic admission. The distinguished level of achievement requires four credits in math including Algebra II, four credits in science, all other FHSP requirements, and at least one endorsement.
