Chapter 4 : Program Attached to computer There are many programs that are automatically installed with Windows7 Windows Media Player: This program plays audio and video files. It can be run by pressing START menu < all program < windows media player Form the program when running as shown:

To play an audio or video file: Place the pointer on the tape shown in the image below< right click < file < open < new browser window will appear where we go to the audio and video file location < We select which files to run < Press the button OPEN.

2. Paint Program: This program is used to create simple drawings or to add simple adjustments to images. The program can be run by pressing the START menu < All Program < Accessories < Paint

Simple tools can be used at the top of the drawing window Simple tools can be used at the top of the drawing window. To open an existing image for editing: Click the arrow next to the button PAINT(As shown in the picture below) < open < The browser page will appear to select the desired image and press the button open

3. Calculator: It is exactly like a Pocket Calculator PC , the program can be run by pressing the START menu < All Program < Accessories < Calculator , The neighbouring calculator appears . 4. Games: Windows7 includes a combination of simple built-in games. Games can be accesse START < All Program < Games < Choose the required game

Chapter 5 : Control panel The control panel is used to change the appearance and settings of Windows to suit the user. To access the control panel click START menu< Control Panel The next window appears and contains all control panel options.

We will study the most frequently used options: Date and Time: Used to change the date and time as follows: Click on the icon Date and Time You will see the following window:

Desktop Gadgets: Used to show useful tools on your desktop Such as calendar, clock, etc.:

Device Manager: This option is used to preview the status of all components of the computer and its peripherals. The sign (?) Appears in front of the unknown object, and an exclamation mark (!) In front of the piece that contains a definition of deficiency or problem

Devices and printers: Selects the main printer for the computer (when using the printer). The page displays all peripherals attached to the computer (such as mouse, keyboard, printers):

Folder Options: The most important feature of this icon is dealing with hidden files: To make a hidden item for the purpose of protecting it: Right click on the desired item < properties < put a mark (√ ) in front of ( hidden ) word.

Show hidden items: click icon FOLDER OPTION in the control panel < Go to the View page < Remove the mark (√ ) in front of the line ( Hide hidden files , folders and drives) < Show Hidden Files, folders and drives.

The hidden elements appear hazy as shown below, but can be handled As normal files: To remove the hidden and return the elements to the normal state: we first show the hidden files as explained above< right click < remove the mark (√ ) in front of hidden word.

Programs and Features: These are used to remove installed programs from the computer Programs and games can not be run on the computer by copying and pasting, but the installation process must be done to function the program or game correctly. The installation process is easy at this time to provide discs containing the auto run, Where the user can insert the disc into the CD drive, an automatic page with a button INSTALL is opened or the button NEXT for example, to install a game, place the disc in the drive and the next page will appear:

A confirmation message will appear, press the (Yes) button and the Automatic Screen appears

To delete the programs installed in the computer, you must perform the "uninstall" process as follows: Double click on the program and feature icon in Control Panel < the following window will appear:

Click once on the program you want to uninstall and click the Uninstall button, which will appear at the top of the list of programs

Region and Language: This icon is used to change the date format (eg day / month / year, month / day / year, Hijri, etc.), and is used to add another language to the keyboard. Change the date format: click the region and language icon from the control panel< from the page Tab you can change the format by country by changing the country name in the list Format, and you can convert to the Hijri calendar by selecting Arabic (Saudi Arabia)

To add a new language (for example, French): Click the icon Region and Language from the control panel < from keyboards and languages page < click change keyboard < click Add button < choose French language < click OK , The French language is added to the list of languages ​​in the icon down the right of the window (in the taskbar)

User Accounts : You can create more than one user account on a computer to enable each person to work on their own settings and password can be entered to the accounts, and can determine the possibilities of some users tampering with the computer. There are three types of accounts 1. Administrators : Has the right to install / uninstall software, use the printer and access all parts of the computer. The password will be asked for other administrative users in the event of a change affecting the rest of the administrative type.

2. Standard User: Has the right to use most programs and printing and change the settings of the computer so as not to affect the security of other accounts. It can not install / uninstall programs. 3. Guest : Has the right to use most programs, does not have the right to print or change any of the computer settings. Can not install / uninstall software. To change the following account settings / create a new account, click the User Accounts tab in the control panel The following window will appear:

Chapter 6 keyboard shortcuts The keyboard can be used to perform many functions instead of using the mouse, including: 1. Enter : Double click on the selected icon, or select the selected button in the selection group (or go down a line when printing). 2. Direction keys : Used to move between icons (or between words when printing). 3. Delete: Equivalent to a clear command (or clear the shaded words when printing).

4. Back Space : used to clear the word from the end when printing. 5. Windows key : It is used to open the start menu 6. Shift: It prints the large format of the English letter when pressed while printing the letter. 7. Caps Lock: When pressed once, all English characters are printed in large format. To cancel this selection, press it again. 8. Home: Moves the pointer to the beginning of the page when printing.

9. Num Lock: When pressed, the buttons on the right of the keyboard act as numbers. 10. Alt+Shift : Convert between writing in Arabic and English 11. Ctrl+Shift (Located on the right): move the direction of writing to the right. 12. Ctrl+Shift (Located on the left): Move the writing direction to the left. 13. Ctrl+A: Select all items on the page. 14. Ctrl+C: Copy selected items.

15. Ctrl+X: Cut selected items 16. Ctrl+V: Paste copied or cut items 17. Ctrl+S: Save changes to file 18. Ctrl+P: Print the open document on the printer. 19. F1: Open the Help page 20. F2: Edit a file name or record. 21. F5: Refresh
