Entry Task What is your knowledge on Bush Jr’s domestic agenda? What is your response to Bush’s action towards the terrorist attack against the United State?

9/11 Attack 4 hijacked planes (American airlines flight 11) (United Airlines flight 175) (American Airlines flight 77) (United Airlines flight 93). 2,996 deaths. 6,000 non-fatal injuries. World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Shanks Ville Pennsylvania. 400 police officers and firefighters. 343 firefighters died. 37 police officers from port authority of New York and New Jersey. 23 police from NYPD.

Continued 9/11 9/11 was the worst terrorist attack that ever happened in the United States since Pearl Harbor. The group that claimed responsibility was al-Qaeda which were retaliating over the U.S. involvement in the Persian Gulf War. It was not the only attack on the World Trade Center. There was a bombing that happened in 1993 that killed 6 people. It took almost 100 days for fire fighters to put out a fire that was burning underneath the rumble from the towers.

Yes, more 9/11 In response to the attacks, Bush declared a global “War on Terrorism,” established the Department of Homeland Security, and authorized US-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. "My blood was boiling. We were going to find out who did this, and kick their ass." Then he prayed. "There is no textbook on how to steady a nation rattled by a faceless enemy," the former president writes. "I relied on instincts and background. My west Texas optimism helped me project confidence.” "Occasionally I spoke a little too bluntly, such as when I said I wanted Bin Laden 'dead or alive'," he added.

Tax Cuts Bush believed that tax cuts could stimulate the economy. In 2001 Bush successfully pushed a $1.3 trillion tax cut through congress. The tax cut put more money in the hands of consumers. The cut also increased federal budget deficits. The tax law of 2003 was called the Jobs and growth Tax relief Reconciliation Act of 2003. > This act was deadlocked in a 50-50 tie until the vice president casted the winning vote.

No Child Left Behind Act Increased accountability for states, school districts, and schools themselves. Required stakes to implement statewide accountability systems covering public schools and students. Required annual testing for all students in grades 3-8. Increased the choices available to the parents of students attending title school.

ACTIVITY!!!!!! LOOK UNDER YOUR DESK FOR A FLASH CARD!!! O.O After finding the flash card look to see what topic you have. It should say 9/11, Tax cuts, or No Child Left Behind act. After finding the card, write your name on the topic side. Write the question you have written down for your topic on the side that does not have the topic. Find a person with a different card topic and switch with them. The person you switched with will write his/her name on the side that has the question. After switching you have to answer the question the person had written down on the back. Wait for further instructions.

Exit Task What is your knowledge on Bush Jr’s domestic agenda? What is your response to Bush’s action towards the terrorist attack against the United State?
