Travel & Tourism Why do people travel? Why they go where they do? What they do when they get there? What impact do these activities have on tourists and locals?

What is a Tourist? (United Nations World Tourism Org. definitions) VISITOR: a traveller taking a trip to any destination outside his/her usual environment, for less than a day TOURIST: Someone who visits one place for more than 24 hours (overnight), but less than 1 year.

Travellers who are not tourists: ~ Same-day visitors (Visit less than 24 hours, for business or pleasure) ~ Migrants (Live for an extended period; ex. Immigrants, refugees, nomadic peoples, diplomats, armed forces.)
