The following topics will be covered this year: 6th Grade ELA Ms. McCalla Email  mccalla_s@hcsb.k12.fl.us Room 713 Webpage  http://dspmslanguagearts.weebly.com/mccalla.html Phone  352-797-7075 Ext. 280 REQUIRED Supplies Three ring binder – 1 inch or larger Pens (blue and black only) Dividers for binder (at least 5) Pencils (the more, the better!) Loose Leaf paper (no spiral notebooks) Hand held pencil sharpener Tissues, loose leaf paper, and pencils are always accepted as donations The following topics will be covered this year: 1st Semester 1st Quarter 2nd Quarter Inventors Text set and Writing task Bullying synthesis task IREADY diagnostic and growth monitoring Courage in Conflict text set District Writing Assessment IREADY standards mastery and growth monitoring Problems children face synthesis task Argumentative text set 2nd Semester 3rd Quarter 4th Quarter Synthesis task Paired text activities FSA Review FSA Writing Assessment Project based Learning Mini Research task FSA ELA Students will be required to take the Florida Standards Assessment in ELA and Math. This assessment will be administered in May. Breakdown of Grading Grades will be taken on a regular basis and can include, but are not limited to, homework, projects, quizzes, tests, and classroom activities. If a student is absent, they have 3 days from when they return to complete all make-up work. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make up work.   Grading Scale A 100 - 90 B 89- 80 C 79 - 70 D 69 - 60 F 59 - 0 Classroom Expectations: Be kind to others (RESPECT) Be prepared Pay attention at all times Be responsible (for every action there is a consequence)
