Why does Faulkner tell the story the way he does? He COULD have presented the story in chronological order, but he did not. Why?
What is up with the title of the story? Why a “rose”? Why not for “Miss Emily”? She’s always referred to in that way.
“The title was an allegorical title; the meaning was, here was a woman who has had a tragedy, an irrevocable tragedy and nothing could be done about it, and I pitied her and this was a salute ... to a woman you would hand a rose.” - Faulkner
Who, exactly, is the narrator? “We” Do you like the narrator? Do you feel like the narrator can be trusted? Is the narrator objective?
What’s with the ending? The final scene is certainly “gothic” and a little disturbing. What do you make of this? How do you feel about Miss Emily by the end of the story?
